Rules

1) We'll never drive farther than 6 hours to one of our destinations.
2) No sleeping with grizzlies.

The first rule is Mark's, the second mine.  I must admit I'm a bit apprehensive about camping with a 2- and 4-year-old and somehow that fictional grizzly attack was the worst thing I could muster that I could have any control over.  So I put my foot down, forced Mark to do too much research into the migratory patterns of grizzly bears (or whatever it is he was looking at on all those maps) with the hopes that I might sleep on the nights that we're tentin' it.

Crazy? You be the judge.

Soon we'll be embarking on a five-week trek across the country in a 2006 Toyota Matrix with 2 kids, a tent, some diet coke and a short to-do list.   Join us as we set out in search of one beaver (just one), a glacier (nothing more than a giant piece of ice that is at least 60-years-old) and some stars.
